FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1.  Does my dog or cat have to be up to date on his vaccinations?

Yes, unless your pet is a senior pet that can no longer tolerate vaccinations or has some other reason for not being able to receive at least a rabies shot.

2.  How often should I get my pet groomed?

On the average, dogs should be groomed every three to six weeks, cats every 6 to 8 weeks.  Of course, this depends on the owner's ability to do frequent brush outs.  It also depends on your pet's breed, coat and how often your dog/cat is outside.  You may want your dog to be groomed on a tighter schedule to keep their cuts crisp.  Since we only have two mobile vans, you should try to "lock in" a recurring appointment to prevent an appointment not being available by setting up regular recurring appointments

3. Does frequent bathing harm my pet's coat?

No, veterinarians will encourage you to have your pet groomed on a regular basis.  We use high quality shampoos and conditioners to help relieve dry, itchy skin.  We use a variety of shampoos such as medicated, tearless, soothing, anti-itch, moisturizing and Hypoallergenic just to name a few.

4.  My dog/cat sheds all the time, any help for that?

Yes, We can de-shed the coat during and after bathing which reduces shedding.

5.  My dog/cat is really, really matted, what can you do for him?

We offer a relaxing, pain free grooming experience for your pet.  If your pet is severely matted, we would offer to shave down the coat using the longest length blade that will penetrate the mats.  If this is not acceptable to you, you might want to comb out the mats with particular attention to the stomach, underarms, and behind the ears before we arrive.  Just remember, it is more humane to cut down the coat and start all over again than to de-mat a heavily matted coat.  Also, decreasing the time between appointments and/or settling for a different coat style could be discussed at this time.

6.  My dog/cat has fleas.  How do I get rid of them?

For flea removal we recommend a two step process.  First, we bathe the pet using environmentally-friendly flea based natural shampoo which will eradicate the fleas presently on the pet and help soothe skin irritations caused by the flea bites. Secondly, we recommend monthly flea preventative treatment such as Nextguard, Advantix, Confortis, Frontline, etc.  There are many good products available.  Please check with your vet for a recommendation.  There will be an extra fee for flea treatments.

7.  My dog is scared of water and hates being groomed.

We can help.  As groomers, we are used to handling reluctant dogs that don't want to be bathed or groomed.  We use lots of pampering, TLC, and the occasional doggie treat.

8.  What type of products will you use on my pet?

In an attempt to give our clients the best service, we use only premium shampoos and conditioners that are designed specifically for pets.  However, if you prefer that we use your pet shampoo, just provide us with it.  Some of the different shampoos we use are:  Flea and Tick, Tearless, BlueBerry, Medicated, Soothing Anti-itch, Griminator, and Hypoallergenic to name a few.

9.  Do I have to be home for you to groom my pet?

For the first or second time, we highly recommend you be at home.  When both your pet and we feel comfortable with each other, we can make arrangements for grooming to be done without your presence.

10.  Can you come to my office to groom my pet?

Yes, mobile grooming can be done anywhere there is a legal parking space!

11.  What if the client needs to cancel their pet's appointment?

No problem, as long as you notify us 24 hours in advance of your appointment so that we can try to fill this time slot with another client's pet.  It it is less than 24 hours, please call us at (772)-342-8196 thus saving us from driving to your residence.  If you do not call to cancel your appointment, a $35.00 fee may be assessed, which must be paid prior to your next appointment.

12.  What type of payments do you accept?

We accept cash, Zelle, checks, and credit cards (Master card, Visa, American Express, and Discover).  All grooming fees must be paid at the time of service.

13.  Is mobile grooming more expensive than shop grooming?

Yes, usually around $20-$25.00 more per pet.  For that extra money, you get the convenience of not making 2 trips to your local grooming shop and having to wait approximately 4 hours or more between drop-off and pick-up time.  Your pet will also benefit from a less stressful environment with no barking dogs, no cages, and no wait time.  We will groom your pet one-on-one from start to finish each time.

14.  Do you need to plug into my electric outlet or use my water?

No, our vans are completely self-contained units.  We have both warm fresh water and grey water tanks on board.  We will never empty our grey water on your property.  We have a generator that provides for all of our electrical needs in one van.  The other unit has been converted to quiet clean power and no longer needs a generator.    Our units are always climate controlled.

15.  Do you have evening or weekend appointments?  What about an emergency appointment?

We can schedule off-hour appointments if the situation requires it.  There is an extra charge for this accommodation.

16.  How do I schedule an appointment?

Generally, we prefer a phone call or text message (772-342-8196).   If we do not answer right away, please leave the following information and we will get back with you ASAP.

Please leave your name & address with zip code

Your dog or cat's breed, approximate weight, and age

The last time he was professionally groomed

Special attention needs, ie:  disabled, senior or aggressive tendencies
